  4. II from the English succession (as a Roman
  5. Catholic). They were in power continuously
  6. 1714-60 and pressed for industrial and
  7. commercial development, a vigorous foreign
  8. policy, and religious toleration. During the
  9. French Revolution, the Whigs demanded
  10. parliamentary reform in Britain, and from the
  11. passing of the Reform Bill in 1832 became
  12. known as Liberals.
